About the treatment
Testosterone is a vital male hormone and is crucial for maintaining physical, sexual and psychological health in men. Where testosterone levels are low, a range of significant symptoms can follow, and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) may be a suitable option.
That decision is never made on symptoms alone. Every plan at Sussex Wellman Clinic starts with a 50-minute assessment and a full screening blood test, so that treatment is based on what the results actually show.
Treatment may involve testosterone gels or injections. The plan is individual to you, it can start as soon as your results are back, and it is reviewed regularly to make sure it stays safe and right for you.

Your treatment plan
In Dr David Weinstein's words.
Come and see me at my consulting rooms in Central Hove (or online). We will have 50 minutes together to review all your symptoms and really dive deeply in to all aspects of your health. We will discuss your energy levels, sleep, diet, exercise, work, stress, mood and sex drive. All of this is vital for me to get a really good picture of you, your symptoms and your health.
During your first appointment with me I will take a blood sample. This consists of a tailored set of tests that I have handpicked to look in detail at your hormonal and physical health.
Of course, I am interested in your hormone and testosterone levels, but I also want to understand other aspects of your health such as cholesterol and blood sugar levels. I also check your prostate, kidney and liver as these are all relevant especially if you are going to start testosterone replacement therapy.
As soon as the results are back I will contact you. Together we will decide on a plan. If testosterone replacement therapy could benefit you, we will consider treatment options. This could be using testosterone gels or injections. The TRT treatment plan will be individual to you and can start immediately.
I will keep a close eye on you as you start treatment. You will have follow up and monitoring to make sure the treatment is safe and right for you. I work closely with a local pharmacy to make sure that collecting your medication is easy and hassle free.
Follow up appointments are at 2 months, 6 months and then yearly.
What to expect
There are no before and after photographs on this page. TRT is a medical treatment, and what changes is tracked in blood results and in how you feel day to day, not in an image.
That is why monitoring matters. Follow-up appointments at 2 months, 6 months and then yearly exist to check that treatment is working, that it remains safe, and that the plan still fits you.
Every patient is different and results may vary. TRT is not suitable for everyone. Suitability is determined by a doctor following assessment and blood testing.
Is TRT right for you
TRT suits some men and not others. The assessment exists to work out which, and there is no obligation to start treatment.
When a thorough assessment and blood results point in the same direction, treatment options are discussed together and a plan can start immediately.
TRT is not a shortcut for fitness or weight goals, and it is never started on symptoms alone. If the results point elsewhere, you will be told so.
Together. You will have 50 minutes to talk through energy, sleep, diet, exercise, work, stress, mood and sex drive, then the results are reviewed with you.
