Having trouble conceiving?
If you are having problems conceiving, then you certainly aren't alone because as many as one in six couples in the UK are unable to conceive naturally.
It takes around nine months for a couple to achieve a pregnancy. If you have been trying to get pregnant for 12 months unsuccessfully, it's time to speak to a specialist.

Waiting is the hardest part of trying to conceive. Our fertility screen is designed to replace guesswork with information, in a single visit, with a consultant who explains what they are seeing as they see it.
If your results point to something that needs investigating further, we will tell you clearly and talk you through the options rather than leaving you to work it out alone.
Common causes of infertility
For couples having unprotected intercourse, conception is restricted to a short period of two days before and after ovulation. Ovulation in a woman happens on day 14 in a 28 day cycle but may vary if the cycle is irregular. There can be several causes of subfertility.
Ovulation disorder
Cycles where an egg is not released regularly, or at all.
Problems with follicle growth
Follicles that do not develop as expected across the cycle.
Age and ovarian reserves
The number and quality of eggs available, measured by scan and AMH.
Tubal obstruction
Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, checked with a tubal patency test.
Uterine (womb) factors
Polyps, fibroids or other findings inside the womb cavity.
Immune factors
Immune responses that can affect conception or implantation.
Male factor
Low sperm count or low motility in the male partner.

Why is it difficult to achieve pregnancy after 35 years?
After 35 years of age, the chromosomes division and separation to form a Haploid germ cells (half) is imperfect. This causes a number of cells containing one less or one more chromosomes resulting in an abnormal off spring e.g. .
If one germ cell fails to divide altogether, the whole chromosomes (46) try to complement by combining with half from the male partner's chromosomes (23) resulting in 69 chromosomes (Triploidy) which often ends up in miscarriages.

Fertility FAQs
How long should we try before seeing a specialist?
It takes around nine months for a couple to achieve a pregnancy. If you have been trying to get pregnant for 12 months unsuccessfully, it's time to speak to a specialist. If you are over 35, or you already know about a gynaecological condition that might be relevant, it is reasonable to seek advice sooner.
What does the fertility screen include?
The £770 fertility screen includes an examination, an ultrasound scan, an AMH blood test to assess ovarian reserve, and advice from your consultant. If you would prefer to start with a scan alone, the initial full fertility scan is £300 and includes endometrial thickness.
How quickly can I be seen?
Same day appointments are now available on weekdays. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00. Saturday and Sunday appointments are by special arrangement only, extra charges apply and availability depends on staffing.
Do you investigate male factor infertility too?
Male factor, due to low sperm count or low motility, is one of the recognised causes of subfertility and forms part of how we think about a couple's fertility. What happens if my results show a problem?
Your consultant will explain what has been found and what it means. Some women may require a hysteroscopy procedure to investigate or treat some fertility issues, particularly if accompanied by abnormal vaginal bleeding. Infertility treatments such as IVF and ICSI are performed in association with our partner clinic, The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy.
Can you guarantee I will conceive?
No clinic can, and we will not tell you otherwise. What we can do is identify the cause of infertility where one can be found, explain your options honestly, and support you through the treatment pathway that fits your situation. Every patient is different and results vary.

The clinic is inside the congestion zone, and there is a private underground car park under the building with entry from Chandos Street.
